What regions do we cover?

Deciding on a location, or series of locations, for your trip can be challenging. Southern Africa offers an amazing array of landscapes, cultural sites, and wildlife! To simplify your choice, we offer services in the following regions:

KwaZulu-Natal

Located along the coast of South Africa, KZN is known for its beaches, mountains and savannah. Populated by a diverse range of wildlife (including the Big 5); the safari destination Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park is home to black and white rhinos, lions, elephants and giraffes.

Northern Cape

Located along the border of Namibia, the Northern Cape is South Africa’s largest province, with desert landscapes (like red sand dunes) and desert wildlife. The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is a vast preserve shared between South Africa and Botswana.

Western Cape

Best known for its famous port city, Cape Town, Western Cape is located in the southwest of South Africa with its coasts bordering the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. Notable locations include Table Mountain and the notorious prison, Robben Island, that held Nelson Mandela. Come check out Boulder’s Beach for penguins!

Eastern Cape

One of the nine provinces of South Africa, Eastern Cape is known for its many port cities, including Port St Johns. Mvezo is also the birthplace of Nelson Mandela, located along the banks of the Mbashe River. The Eastern Cape offers a wide array of attractions, including 800 km (500 mi) of untouched coastline along with beaches and Big 5 game viewing.

North West

Sharing its border with Botswana in the north, the North West province is home to Sun City, a luxury resort with hotels, a casino, and a water park. Visit Pilanesberg National Park for a view of (now extinct) volcanoes and wildlife, such as lions and elephants.

Mpumalanga

Mpumalanga is the Zulu name for “the place where the sun rises.” This region shares its borders with Eswatini (to the south) and Mozambique (to the east). This province is home to the southern half of Kruger National Park, which is South Africa’s first national park. Guests visiting Kruger will experience unprecedented numbers of all Big 5 game (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and buffalo).

Free State

Free State, formerly known as the Orange Free State, is also located in South Africa — this region is home to the judicial capital of SA (Bloemfontein). Visit Golden Gate National Park for a scenic drive through this mountainous area, including the famous Titanic Rock. Stop by Clarens, a quaint mountain town, for craft beer and live music!

Limpopo

Limpopo shares its borders with Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique in the north. This province is home to part of Kruger National Park (also in the Mpumalanga province) — where the game viewing is spectacular! Visit the Makgabeng Plateau for ancient rock art and the fossil-rich caves of Makapansgat for artifacts dating back to early hominids.

Eswatini

Nestled within South Africa, Eswatini (also known as Swaziland or the Kingdom of Swaziland) is best known for its rich biodiversity. There are several protected areas in the country, including Hlane Royal National Park. Check out the watering hole at Hlane for an incredible up-close view of white rhino, giraffes, elephants, impala and nyala — and, of course, the rich bird life!

Lesotho

Home to the highest pub in Southern Africa, this landlocked nation is nestled within South Africa. Go on a scenic drive through Sani Pass for an incredible view of the gorgeous mountains in this region — you can also explore the the Maloti Mountains on foot or by horse. Looking for an opportunity to ski in Southern Africa? Visit Afriski Mountain Resort for skiing and other winter activities.
